Managing Partner, Consigliere Brand Capital
Michael is Co-Founder/Managing Partner of Consigliere, a hybrid marketing consultancy/venture capital firm investing primarily in consumer start-ups comprised of great entrepreneurs with a disruptive market ideas in worlds such as e-commerce, retail, consumer goods and sports.
Prior to Consigliere, Mike spent 12 years at Deutsch Inc., most recently as Partner and Chief Corporate Strategy Officer. He was responsible for shaping Deutsch’s marketing, business development, corporate planning, global footprint and corporate communications initiatives for the agency. In addition, he worked on a number of brands, including Anheuser-Busch InBev, DIRECTV, Expedia, Johnson & Johnson, Microsoft, Monster Worldwide, Under Armour and Vineyard Vines.
Mike’s unique insights into integration and business development stem from his own “hybrid” background. Prior to joining Deutsch in January 1998, he held public relations and interactive roles at Hutchins/Young & Rubicam (1993-95) and co-founded the agency’s interactive unit in 1994. He also held direct response, account management and business development positions at Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners (1995-97) and oversaw corporate growth and integration roles at Omnicom’s Rapp Collins Worldwide (2000-01), where he helped lead the agency to its first “Agency of the Year” honor.
Mike is a regular guest speaker at numerous industry functions, Wall Street analyst conferences and colleges. He also is a member of the American Association of Advertising Agency’s (AAAA) New Business Committee, the Ad Club of New York and is on the Board of Directors of Syracuse University’s Sports Management School.
