Marie Devlin

SVP/Advertising, Media & Sponsorships, American Express

As Senior Vice President of Global Advertising, Media and Sponsorships, Ms. Devlin leads worldwide marketing programs for American Express, including advertising and media, sponsorships, agency management and marketplace research. She is responsible for driving marketplace demand for American Express products and services at both the brand and product levels in the United States and across 22 international markets.

Under Ms. Devlin’s leadership, her team develops groundbreaking partnerships in the entertainment, sports and fashion industries to deliver unique, world-class customer experiences for American Express Cardmembers. Current partnerships managed under Ms. Devlin include the Tribeca Film Festival, Ticketmaster, Frontline Management, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, the PGA of America, the United States Golf Association, the United States Tennis Association, the National Basketball Association as well as YouTube and Vevo for the Unstaged concert series. Ms. Devlin’s team executes the successful Members Project cause-marketing program that provides funding to local, national and global non-profit organizations through consumer-based voting platforms, connects consumers with volunteer opportunities, and encourages individual donations to worthy causes. Her team also develops strong creative relationships with the likes of Ellen DeGeneres, Tina Fey, Martin Scorsese and Diane Von Furstenberg and leverages media partners to create innovative programs, most recently a Members Project integration with Fox and Glee.

Prior to joining American Express in March 2010, Ms. Devlin spent nearly 20 years with the Quaker Oats Company, a division of PepsiCo, based in Chicago. Most recently, Ms. Devlin held the position of Chief Marketing Officer for Quaker Foods and Snacks Division where she led the Marketing, Consumer Insights and new Product Development teams for Quaker, Life, Cap’n Crunch and Rice-a-Roni/Pasta Roni brands, accounting for more than $3 billion in annual sales. Before the CMO role, Ms. Devlin spent ten years in the Gatorade business, where she ultimately became the Vice President of Gatorade New Products and Propel Fitness Water. She led the Propel Fitness Water business from the market launch through, ultimately growing the business to over $500MM in sales and winning two EFFIE awards for marketing effectiveness.

Ms. Devlin sits on the boards of the Association of National Advertisers (ANA) and the Advertising Club of New York. She holds a bachelor’s degree the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
