Media & Business Development Director, Digital Advertising, Smithsonian Media
Lori Erdos is the Publisher, Media & Business Development at Smithsonian Media. She is responsible for the day to day operations of the Smithsonian Media assets that include Smithsonian magazine, Air & Space magazine, Smithsonian Media Digital Network, the Smithsonian Channel and Smithsonian.com. Lori joined Smithsonian in September of 2012 as the Director of Business Development, Digital.
Prior to Smithsonian, Erdos was Vice President, Advertising Sales for USA Today/ Usa Today.com. Erdos led an integrated brand sales team dedicated to managing and developing client solutions for USA Today’s global marketers. She was a key member of the leadership team and managed print, digital and mobile platforms and directed companywide sales-strategies for a variety of sectors. Erdos led the sales success accompanying the launch of the Usa Today IPad app, and was awarded Gannett’s 2010 Innovator of the Year award.
Erdos joined Gannett, parent company of USA TODAY, in 1993 as senior
vice president/sales for Gannett’s outdoor advertising division. She was promoted in January 1996 to general manager of Gannett Outdoor Network, USA.
Prior to joining Gannett, Erdos was President of Ackerley Airport
Advertising, the largest owner of airport advertising displays in the United States and publisher of Washington Flyer Magazine. She joined Ackerley Airport advertising in 1981 as an account executive and served from 1988 to 1990 as Vice President/National Sales for both their airport and outdoor divisions. Previously, she was a management supervisor at an agency in New York, Gamut International.
Erdos is on the Board of the Advertising Club of New York, after serving as Chairman from 2007 – 2009 and President from 2005 – 2007. She also held the position as President of Advertising Women of New York in 1992 – 1993.
Erdos is also on the Board of VCU Brandcenter, the #1 digital media and marketing graduate school in the country.
