Meet The Fellows: Lavon Coker

Lavon is an executor, problem solver, and natural collaborator. She excels at transforming abstract ideas into rich multi-faceted marketing experiences and is unafraid of addressing inevitable challenges. Lavon launched her Advertising career at CBS Radio’s 92.3NOW, a New York City-based network, anchored by lead personality Nick Cannon. Here, she was able to learn the fundamentals of the industry in a top market. She quickly transitioned to gain experience across multiple platforms including T.V, digital, events, mobile, OTT, and print. In 2014 she pivoted and embarked on her freelance career serving in a sale support capacity for the iconic Essence Magazine and independently owned PAPER Magazine. She helped drive campaigns for brands such as MAC, Coca-Cola, and Verizon while establishing strong client relationships and providing first in class customer service. As digital began to make its mark on the industry, Lavon was able to gain account management experience at Amazon Advertising. She assisted in running campaigns on the entertainment vertical for clients Showtime, STARZ, and HBO.  Currently, she continues to freelance as a Marketing Project Manager skilled in the ideation, management, and execution of campaigns across the Healthcare, Tech, and Media industries.

In her free time, Lavon enjoys exploring new cultural experiences and adding stamps to her passport. The top 3 countries she has traveled to include Iceland, Guyana, and Cuba. Originally from right outside of Philly, she currently resides in Brooklyn and enjoys exploring all the borough has to offer. A graduate of Howard University, she received her B.B.A with a concentration in Marketing in 2009 and is a member of the International Fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi, Iota Rho Chapter.
