AAPI Heritage Month | Rockstar: Karen Chan

Karen Chan leads partner marketing and communications across the organization. In this role, she oversees strategic relationships with key media, data, and technology partners tied to WPP Media’s marketing and communications initiatives, while also driving internal communications for the agency’s media management and delivery teams.  

Karen works closely with the industry’s leading tech and publishers to create new opportunities and outcomes for clients and teams. This includes partner events, communications, and process optimization—unifying complex projects and forging collaborative partnerships across media, data, and technology. 

With experience spanning investment, product, and sales, Karen plays a critical role in fostering collaboration and alignment across teams to advance thought leadership, streamline processes, and drive more integrated marketing efforts. She leads major partner-facing events and agency-wide programs around Upfront activations and other  industry tentpoles. Prior to joining WPP Media, Karen held roles at VIZIO, MediaMath, Tremor Video, and SHE Media (Penske Media Group).  

Karen is an active industry leader, serving on the IAB Video Leadership Board, IAB Agency Leadership Committee, and AdExchanger’s inaugural Programmatic IO Advisory Board. She is also a dedicated member of WPP Media’s AAPI ERG and the Ad Club of NY. Her contributions have been widely recognized, including the IAB Service Award for Outstanding Leader – Media Agency (2025), Adweek’s Media All-Stars (2023), Broadcasting + Cable’s NYC TV Week 40 Under 40 (2023), FierceVideo’s Emerging Leaders (2022), and Cynopsis’ Top Women in Media (2020).
