Meet The Fellows: Jamilla DeSouza

"If I had to describe the fellowship in one word, it would be: hope. As the first person in my family to get into college, my background failed to prepare me for the corporate world. I lacked some implicit knowledge others seemed to have, and it was very easy to blame myself as it felt like I was the only one struggling. This fellowship showed me I’m not alone, I’m not to blame, and together, we incredible woman can overcome anything."

About Jamilla:

Creative, strategic, and analytical, Jamille is a digital marketer skilled at translating business goals into actionable strategies that deliver measurable results and connected insights. Currently, she serves as a subject matter expert, guiding measurement for corporate brand marketing initiatives at New York Life Insurance. There, she works closely with program managers, consumer research, and data science teams to build unified marketing measurement solutions that transform data into strategic insights and recommendations.

Prior to joining New York Life Insurance, Jamille worked at media agencies Mediacom and Carat, where she led analytics for clients American Airlines, MasterCard, Danone, and Staples. Some of her notable accomplishments include leading a cross-agency, 3-year, multi-million-dollar project to build never-seen-before, advanced analytics capabilities and designing the agency’s first, fully automated reporting suite. Insights generated from these solutions increased ROAS by 170-220% due to more efficient media allocations and resulted in 3.2x higher conversation rates due to real-time, media optimizations.

She received her B.S in Business Administration with dual concentrations in International Business Management and Marketing from Montclair State University and is in the process of obtaining an M.A in Social Research & Analysis at the same institution.

An artistic soul, she spends her free-time feeding her creative-side, writing fiction and poetry, painting digital portraits, or participating in indie game jams.

Jamille is excited to be a member of the 2022-2023 Advertising Club of NY imPART Women’s Fellowship executive and leadership program.
